A New Year – A New Endeavor!

Welcome to 2021! I’ve finally put this dream of blogging into reality!

The idea started a few years ago (shortly after watching the movie Julie and Julia), but I just kept postponing it. There were several culprits to this happening: fear of writing something that nobody wanted to read; uncertainty about what the blog was going to be about; and trepidation over the work involved (I certainly didn’t want to “bite off more than I could chew”!).

So here we are, finally!

VISION — I want this blog to be a source of encouragement for someone like me who is trying to live life to the fullest! If you’re like me, you’ll agree that more and more, the world is getting darker and more negative. Common decency and time-tested values seem to be missing today. Instead, there’s a lot of negativity, self-aggrandizement, and selfishness all over the news, social media, and even on the streets. This blog will give you encouraging and positive thoughts, like a boost of energy to take the next step forward. After all, the goal is to finish well in our life journey, right?

BLOG NAME: THE SOJOURNER — A sojourner is defined as “a person who resides temporarily in a place” (Wikipedia). Oxford Bibliographies provides an expanded definition:

“Sojourner” is the frequent translation of the Hebrew term gēr (Hebrew gēr [גר]; plural gērīm [גרים]). This Hebrew term and its translation convey the basic idea that a person (or group) is residing, either temporarily or permanently, in a community and place that is not primarily their own and is dependent on the “good-will” of that community for their continued existence.

As I already mentioned above, I believe life is a journey that each of us takes. We aren’t meant to stay where we are at today. We were meant to move forward, and finish well. We are all travelers in this world.

FREQUENCY — This will be a weekly blog–making it easier to handle IMHO.
